Nobber's Cathal Cassidy with Ben McGowan Ratoath during the Meath SFC game at Pairc Tailteann

Reigning senior football champions Ratoath signalled their intent with an emphatic 24-point victory over Nobber at Pairc Tailteann.

Ratoath manager Brian Farrell found himself in an unusual position in the run up to tonight's SFC Group C opener, plotting the downfall of his own club teammates.

Jack Gillespie, Bryan McMahon (2), Daithi McGowan and Connell Ahearne goaled for the holders after Nobber made a dream start when Jordan Morris netted in the opening minutes.

Jamie Browne struck a crucial second half goal for Donaghmore-Ashbourne in their Group B win against Navan O'Mahony's at McManus Park.

From six points down, Summerhill came strong in the second half to defeat Moynalvey in a hard fought, neighbourly battle at Loman's Park.

In the IFC, there were first round victories for Bective and Walterstown over Drumbaragh and Moylagh, respectively.

Carnaross, Ballivor and Kilbride took the opening round honours in the JFC.

Match reports to follow later.
