Wolfe Tones 2-8 Ratoath 0-5

Trathnona gaofar stormuil a bhi ann i bPairc Bhaile Ghib ach thaispeáin imreoirí Bhulf Tón go leor foighne sa dara leath chun smacht a chonneáil ar an gcluiche seo agus ní raibh na cuairteoirí in ann cumhacht na gaoithe a usáid chun an bearna a laghdú.

Wolfe Tones secured a spot in the Feis Cup final on Sunday afternoon in stormy conditions. With Ratoath pitch unplayable, Pairc Bhaile Ghib was the venue and although underfoot conditions held up well, it was the unrelenting strong wind which made conditions very difficult for the players.

Wind-assisted in the first half, Tones only went in 0-5 to 0-2 ahead at the interval which may have been cause for concern but a strong second half showing for the second week in a row will please new manager Micheál McDermott.

The crucial goals which kept Wolfe Tones in the driving seat came courtesy of their two youngest men. Evan Corrigan was on hand to palm to the net after Padraic Diamond’s effort came back off the crossbar following some good build up play with Cian Ward. Fellow minor Oisin Martin bagged Tones’ second goal with a neat finish after a Padraic Diamond goal effort was saved.

This cushion allowed Wolfe Tones to play with more patience and composure and ran out deserved winners. Most prominent for the Tones were Eanna O’Kelly-Lynch, Daniel O’Neill, Niall O’Reilly and Cian Ward.

They now face neighbours Gaeil Colmcille in the Feis Cup final, a competition the Oristown-Kilberry men have yet to add to their roll of honour.
