Meath GAA's plans to redevelop Pairc Tailteann into a 21,000-seat stadium has been given a massive boost with the news that the project has received a €6.2 million grant from the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The news has been warmly welcomed by local Fine Gael ministers Damien English and Helen McEntee who said in a joint statement: “As TDs for Meath and as active supporters of the GAA, we have always had a huge personal interest and commitment to the redevelopment and renewal of Páirc Tailteann.

“The GAA family in Meath has shown huge energy and commitment to this important project for our national games and for our county town (Navan) and the county overall.

"Páirc Tailteann is a shovel-ready project and was an ideal candidate for the Department of Sport’s new regional sports infrastructure fund created under Ireland 2040 and announced today."

The Government grant will cover over 50% of the estimated rebuild cost.
