Div 1 HL final: Silverware for 14 man Kiltale

Kiltale gained revenge for the senior hurling championship final defeat two weeks ago with they five point win over Kildalkey in this lively encounter at a very well appointed Clonard.

The winners laid the foundation for this success in the opening half at the end of which they led 1-11 to 0-4, outplaying the county champions in all sectors of the pitch. 

Christy Ring Cup Hurler of the Year Jack Regan, deployed at centre back, accounted for eight points in that first half salvo while Fearghal McCabe got the all important goal midway through the half. Man of the Match in the SHC final replay Paddy Conneely hit all of his sides first half scores, all from placed balls.

Kiltale were dealt a blow after 22 minutes when full back Philly  Garvey was sent off by referee Killian Jones.

The winners extended their lead after two minutes of the second half when substitute Peter Durnin finished a fine move to the Kildalkey net. 

From there on Kildalkey outscored Kiltale 1-10 to 0-6. Kevin McKeon got their goal deep in to injury. Conneely found the target seven times in those final twenty minutes but Kiltale kept the scoreboard ticking over to claim the title.

After the game Damien Griffin presented the Division 1 HL Cup to Kiltale captain Padraig Kelly.
