Chairman John Kavanagh sent best wishes to Cian McBride following the announcement that the St Ultan’s youngster had signed a two-year contract with AFL outfit Essendon.

“I know he is a big loss to Meath but hopefully he will be back playing with the county some day,” Kavanagh said.

“It is a big opportunity for him and we wish him the best of luck in Australia.”
