The group stages came to a conclusion last weekend

Last weekend brought the group stages of the football championship to a conclusion. In the senior, holders Dunboyne went out, O'Mahonys failed to qualify, favourites Gaeil Colmcille hit eight goals while Simonstown seem to be hitting form at the right time.

Here is our Best XV:

Andy Colgan (Donaghmore Ashbourne): His two points from long range frees along with a fine save in the closing stages were crucial as the 'Moores' shaded it over Moynalvey in a low scoring encounter at Walterstown.

Barry Slevin (Na Fianna): More known for his hurling skills, the dual star was excellent in his defensive duties and his strong runs forward kept Wolfe Tones thinking at Pairc Tailteann.

Stephen Moran (Simonstown): Has made this position his own in recent years and continues to perform at the top of his game as Dunboyne's hopes of retaining the Keegan Cup were extinguished at Dunshaughlin.

Peter Fox (Moylagh): Turned in a fine display both in defence and attack. His ability to score frees proved crucial in the first half and he finished with five points as Kevin Dowd's men claimed Division 4 honours at Pairc Tailteann.

Shane Crosby (Duleek Bellewstown): Scored a goal and two in that comfortable 3-21 to 2-6 at Masterson Park Ardcath to set up a quarter final meeting with Trim.

Stephen O'Brien (Skryne): A rock at the heart of the Tara sides defence. Very good at going forward and kicked a point in that win over Dunshauglin at Lomans Park.

James O'Reilly (Navan O'Mahonys): Kicked three points against St. Pats including the winner but it was to no avail as the Hoops lost out on a place in the knockout stages

Ciaran Lenehan (Skryne): Dominated for long periods around the middle sector and made good use of possession, scoring two points, as Skryne advanced but only just in Trim.

James McEntee (Curraha): The driving force behind the 'Ha' recent good championship form. A goal and two from the county star in that comfortable win over St. Colmcilles.

Sean Martin (Na Fianna): One player the Wolfe Tones defence could not get to grips with his ball winning ability and direct running along with four fine points from play was one of the highlights as Dudley Farrells men advanced to the quarter finals.

Conor Rooney (Ratoath): An impressive performance on the 40 that yielded three points as Davy Byrne's charges advanced to the quarter final with a win over Rathkenny at Seneschalstown.

Nicky O'Brien (Simonstown): A performance full of energy and three excellent points to boot as the former holders knocked out reigning champions Dunboyne at Dunshaughlin.

Seamus Mattimoe (Gaeil Colmcille): The stand out player as the Kells men went goal crazy in that extraordinary game against Seneschalstown. Chipped in with 1-4 at a well appointed Drumconrath.

Jack O'Connor (Curraha): Continues to shoot the lights out in this years championship and must be on Andy McEntee's radar. A tally of 1-6 as the 'Ha' made it three wins in a row to advance to the knock out stages.

Liam Shaw (Summerhill): Was the his team's top scorer with 1-7 in that easy win over Longwood. Had a hand in a host of other scores as the 'Hill' advanced to the quarter finals as group winners.
