As many of you will be aware, the tragic death of Darren’s Connell occurred yesterday (Wednesday).

Darren was a gifted young footballer and an exceptional young person.

A driving force for the Oldcastle club as he progressed through the age grades, Darren also proudly pulled on the Meath jersey as he was a member of the Development Panels from U-14 to U-16 before being a key member of the county Minor Football panel this year.

As a mark of respect to the Connell family (parents Jim and Vera, brothers Keith, Cillian, Ciaran, sister Ella as well as Darren’s extended family and friends), all games in the LMFM Minor Football Championship fixed for Friday September 13th and Saturday September 14th have been postponed.

We will issue updated fixtures in due course.

Darrens funeral mass will take place at 12:00 on Saturday September 14th in St. Brigid’s Church, Oldcastle with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
