Rathmolyon faced Kilmessan in what turned out to be a comfortable victory for the men from The Village. Rathmolyon came into this 4th round clash with 3 wins from 3 while Kilmessan were seeking their first in the competition.
Rathmolyon started off on the front foot despite playing against a stiff breeze blowing into the town end on a perfect surface in Trim. Early goals came from John Farrell and Mark Lynch which set the tone for the duration of the match and they lead by 2-04 to no score coming to the end of the first quarter. From there Rathmolyon kept the pressure on and a third goal from Danny Mulligan stretched the advantage. Rathmolyon closed out the first half with points from Ciaran Regan, Vincent Ward & David Morgan helping the boys in green to a 3-07 to 0-00 half time lead.
After the interval Rathmolyon started in similar fashion as the first half with goals from Farrell (2), Trevor Healy(2) & Danny Mulligan. Mark Lynch and substitute Darren Hennessy also netted as the half wore on. Kilmessan kept on trying as best they could and finished with a tally of 3 points. Rathmolyon rang the changes as the half went on & substitute Gary Doherty had a fine return of 5 points, 4 from play while Hennessy helped himself to a point bringing his contribution off the bench to (1-01).
