IHC: Second win for Kildalkey

August 20, 2019

Kildalkey's Luke Rickard

Kildalkey 1-17 Kiltale 1-10

Kildalkey and Kiltale played in the first part of the double header in Trim on Saturday evening.

Playing with the strong wind in the first half Kildalkey went in at halftime only one point ahead 0-7 to 1-3 and looked in trouble but upped the work rate and intensity enough to seal a great win in the intermediate championship.

Ben Rickard opened Kildalkey’s account and Enda Keogh followed up with another Luke Rickard with 2 and Andy Fagan with 2 along with a Ross Flynn free brought Kildalkey’s tally to 7 for the half but hit 9 wides and probably thought they left themselves with a lot to do facing into the strong wind only one point up

But they came out in the second half and took the game to Kiltale with some brave hurling and played really well to record a second win in the competition

Francy Doran hit 3 second half beauties while Brian Coneely took on the defence any chance he got and got in for a great goal after great work from Luke Rickard who was causing Kiltale problems in full forward Rickard rose high to catch the ball released to Coneely and he dispatched a great shot to the net

This gave Kildalkey the belief to go on and win the game and hit 1-10 into the wind with Coneely hitting the last 2 points of the game Sean Corrigan and Enda Fitzgerald were immense at the heart of the defence along with Conor Fitzgerald

Martin Browne was brilliant in midfield coming out of rucks with ball after ball while up front Andy Fagan before he was injured Luke Rickard Francy Doran and Brian Coneely were the pick of the forwards but everyone played their part in a great victory and finished up on the score line of Kildalkey 1-17 Kiltale 1-10
