Special Congress issues to be discusses

July 16, 2019

County Board Chairman Peter O'Halloran

A special GAA congress will take place on October 19th in Pairc Ui Chaoimh to discuss football structures and high on the agenda will be proposals to alter the football championship and introduce a two tier championship.

Chairman Peter O’Halloran said some very important decisions will be made at that meeting and as soon as all the relevant information was received from Croke Park it would be distributed to the clubs.

The chairman said that the views of Meath clubs would be heard either at a special meeting or a county committee gathering.

Leinster Council delegate Brendan Cummins expressed the hope that the discussion would take place at a monthly county committee meeting as it would get a greater attendance.

Peter O’Halloran said he hoped to have more information for the September gathering and said it would be important to get the views of club delegates ahead of the special congress.
