Sunday was a very special day for Patrick McBrearty as the Super 8s victory over Meath coincided with his 100th appearance for the Donegal seniors.

And the Kilcar ace, who was only 17 when he made his intercounty debut under Jim McGuinness in 2011, was in imperious form at Ballybofey, slotting a match-winning 1-6 tally, including 1-3 from play.

“It was a good enough day all round and it was a special day for me, but you don't think too much about it, although it is in the back of your mind,” the brilliant 2012 All-Ireland winner told The Irish News.

“I'm just happy for myself, my family and all my coaches, there is a big team there. Most importantly we got the win here and it sets us up for next Sunday with Kerry in Croke Park.”
