FL Div 2: St. Michaels relegated

June 17, 2019

St Michaels Ben Reilly with Dale Larkin Nobber during the Division 2 FL clash at Nobber

St. Michaels 1-04, Nobber 2-18

Leading by nine points at the interval, Nobber went on to record a comfortable  17 point victory over neighbours St. Michaels in Nobber on Sunday afternoon last.

Although they were missing a few of their regulars, St. Michaels must now start a re-building programme and lift the club from its lowest ebb of the modern era as they prepare to ply their trade in division 3 next season.

Nobber opened the scoring after three minutes when they were awarded a penalty however the ball just skimmed over the crossbar for the opening point of the game. The home side then took full control and although some of their shooting was wayward they still managed to build up a 2-3 to 0-0 lead before Shane McCormack posted St. Michaels opening point from a '45 on 17 minutes.
McCormack added two more points before the interval but Nobber held a commanding 2-6 to 0-3 interval lead.

The power of the Nobber side's attack helped them to dominate the second 30 minutes as they racked up a further 12 points. Lee Morris managed to beat the Nobber 'keeper for his sides only major on 45 minutes while Justin McPhillips added his side's only point of the half five minutes later.
