The Kildalkey school were champions in 2016 and 2017 and had lost to their neighbours twice this season.
Kildalkey dominated the opening 10 minutes and were rewarded with 1-2 from the outstanding James Cully. Trim hit back with a brace of points from Kyle Ennis as Dympnas went in at the break 1-3 to 0-2 in front.
Ennis narrowed the gap to a goal with the opening score of the second half but Cully landed an important free to keep the Kildalkey boys four in front. Trim were beginning to dominate and had a few goal chances but were denied by some excellent goalkeeping from Patrick Casey. They did eventually raise a green flag courtesy of Ennis but joint captain Cully made sure of victory with another point in the closing stages.
There was a lovely gesture at the end of the game when the winners lined up to form a guard of honour for the Trim school as they came off the pitch.
After the game Jamie Kavanagh and James Cully were presented with the Division 1 Cup by Caroline Gibbons.
