The Allianz hurling league picture became clearer over the weekend in relation to the knock-out phase of Division 1 while neighbours Westmeath and Offaly went in opposite directions…

1. Aaron McHugh (Westmeath)

McHugh kept a clean sheet as the Lake County came from behind against Kerry to secure promotion to Division 1 for 2020.

2. Damien Reck (Wexford)

Reck was one of the standout performers in the Model County's spirited second-half showing against the Cats.

3. Dan Morrissey (Limerick)

The Laois forwards got little change out of Morrissey and his defensive team-mates in O’Moore Park on Saturday evening.

4. Tommy Doyle (Westmeath)

The ever-reliable Doyle proved to be the rock on which many a Kerry attack perished in Cusack Park, Ennis.

5. Kevin Foley (Wexford)

The hard-working half-back put his shoulder to the wheel to help his team qualify for the business end of the league.

6. Padraic Maher (Tipperary)

Tipperary ended their three-match run without a win in the best possible fashion in Pairc Ui Rinn.

7. Declan Hannon (Limerick)

The All-Ireland champions are through to the penultimate stage of the league courtesy of their emphatic win over Laois on Saturday evening.

8. Jamie Barron (Waterford)

Barron was one of the leading lights in Waterford’s fight back against Galway and the midfielder contributed 0-3 to his team’s cause. 

9. Michael Breen (Tipperary)

Another midfielder who was in good scoring form over the week, Breen raised six white flags in the Premier County’s 13-point defeat of the Rebels.

10. Gearoid Hegarty (Limerick)

Despite being just 24 years of age, Hegarty was the elder statesmen of the Limerick attack that took to the field against Laois and he led by example.

11. Lee Chin (Wexford)

Along with half-time substitute Diarmuid O’Keeffe, Chin took the fight to the Cats during the second-half of their rescheduled round 5 clash.

12. Marty Kavanagh (Carlow)

The Carlow sharpshooter finished with 0-8 (four points from play) to his name as they sidestepped relegation to Division 2A.

13. Killian Doyle (Westmeath)

Kerry struggled to contain the Lake County forward whose personal return of 0-6 was a key ingredient in their Division 2A final winning formula.

14. Jason Forde (Tipperary)

Forde was in unstoppable form for Liam Sheedy’s side, scoring 1-13 (1-4) from play, before an ankle injury forced him off the Pairc Ui Rinn field in the 58th minute.

 
15. Chris Nolan (Carlow)

Nolan helped himself to 1-4 as Colm Bonnar’s charges sent Offaly packing in their relegation play-off.
