Bective 2-12, Curraha 0-15

Bective played host to Curraha for this Division 2 league game on a fine, but cold, Sunday morning. Both teams were lookinbg for their first win.

Bective, with many positional changes and playing into a stiff breeze, got scoring underway with a fine worked goal finished by Sean Keating after a creative run by Cathal McConnell. Curraha, without county man James McEntee, fired over three points and level the score after 9 minutes. McConnell and Keating combined again for Bective’s second goal a minute later. Curraha were not phased and kept scoring fine points and again gained parity after 20 minutes. Jack Grant was brought into defense and added strength and composure. Bective fired two points from Paul McCabe and Marty Mulhall (free), but Curraha add three to go in at the break 0-9 to 2-2 in front.

On the restart Bective have two more points on the board and after 15 minutes lead by one point. Ronan Garvey was introduced into the forward line for the injured McConnell. Bective increased their lead and kept the scoreboard ticking over with points from Mulhall, McCabe, Keating and Jack Clarke. Curraha continued to press but are held at bay by a determined defence and with minutes left on the clock were only two points behind.

The experienced Sean Keating showed his cool and after gaining possession fired over the last score of the game
