Simonstown 4-8 Donaghmore Ashbourne 0-16

Simonstown played Donaghmore Ashbourne on Saturday night.

Simonstown opened the scoring with Conor Sheridan and Padraig McKeever and Donaghmore responded with a point on the eight minute. Both teams failed to register a score for the next 10 minutes, the Gaels however scored a magnificent goal on the 17th minute mark through Padraig Mckeever. McKeever dispatched the ball past an oncoming Jack Hannigan and he quickly added to his tally with a marvelous individual effort on the 20th minute mark. McKeever displayed composure and poise by lobbing the ball over Jack Hannigan and this opened the gap to 7 points. The Navan men added a point before the halfway mark through Nathan O'Brien. The Gaels scored 2-3 from play but will be disappointed with the concession of easy frees which were converted with relative ease by Andy Tormey. Score at the end of the first half was Simonstown 2-3 (9) Ashbourne 0-4.  

The Gaels stareted the second half very bright with a great point by Nathan O'Brien. O'Brien was substituted through injury moments later and was replaced by Sean Conlon. Mark McCabe scored his first goal of 2019 on the 36 minute which widened the gap to 9 points. The North Side Blues looked well in control but a second yellow card to Conor Sheridan brought the Moores back into the game. Also an injury to Brian Conlon meant Simonstown were missing their midfield duo for the remaining 20 minutes. Ashbourne got 8 points without reply and this meant it was 1 point game for the remaining 15 minutes. Ben Hoey's goal was crucial on the 55th minute and this ensured the Gaels win.
