B FL: Tones go down in the 'Hill'

November 13, 2018

Alan Fox - Wolfe Tones

Summerhill  3i12 Wolfe Tones 1-9

Bhí Drum Samhraidh ró láidir do Bhulf Tón agus bhíodar chun tosaigh ó thus deireadh. Mar sin féin rinne peileadóirí Bhulf Tón sár iarracht agus bhí cúpla seans acu cúl nó dhó  a fháil ag deireadh an chluiche dá bhfaighfidís na scóranna sin bheadh seans acu teach tar ais. Ní raibh an t-ádh leo áfach agus bhí bua éasca ag an foireann baile.

Showing the benefit of their continued involvement in football Summerhill were the sharper team in this encounter and led from the off building up a comfortable lead at half time when they lead by 2  07 to 1 04 and indeed should have been further ahead but for a number of missed goal chances.

This pattern continued in the second half with a dominant home team who while keeping the scoreboard ticking over failed to press home their advantage and failed to register a score from the 43rd minute (by which time they led 2  12 to 1 05) until close to the final whistle. Tones grew in confidence and added three points but crucially couldn’t add the goal which would have given them some momentum in spite of creating a number of goal chances.

A late breakaway goal for Summerhill finished the game as a contest. Tones keeper Trevor Browne made a number of super saves throughout the game and ensured some respectability on the scoreboard.
