October 18, 2018

Ratoath's Sean Johnson celebrates

Ratoath 3-15 Trim 1-10

Ratoath avenged their recent championship final defeat with a comfortable win over Trim on the latter’s home patch last night.

Ratoath led this game throughout and were well on their way to victory after a blistering start. Tom Fadden got the first 3 points with a well taken goal from Seanie Johnson in the 6th minute. Fadden continued to be a thorn in the Trim defense with further points before a second goal from a long range shot from Toirdelach O”Neil beat the Trim goalkeeper finding the back of the net in the 13th minute .

Trim did get into the game after that with some good scores of their own though Mick Brazil’s charges continued to maintain a healthy lead right up till half time. Half time score: 2-9 to 0-4

The second half began with Fadden & Johnson continuing to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Trim did stage a minor recovery with a goal of their own 8 minutes into the second half reducing the lead to 8( 2-11 to 1-5) .

That alas was as good as it got for Trim as any doubts as to the outcome of the game were dispelled when Shane McGoldrick got the last touch to register his side’s third goal with 15 minutes to go.

Trim to their credit continued to battle but Ratoath stood firm and eventually ran out 11 point winners
