Neamh Woods played a captain’s role as Tyrone went one step further than last year and captured the All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate title.

The Red Hand number 8 scored a goal in each half as they powered to a 6-8 to 1-14 win over Meath at Croke Park today and was a deserving recipient of the ‘Player of the Match’ accolade.

“Honestly, I can’t even put it into words how amazing this is and the girls have worked so, so hard,” she remarked to TG4’s GAA BEO. “It’s just testament to everything that they have done over the last 12 months.”

An early scoring burst that yielded 3-1 without reply sowed the seeds for the Ulster side’s impressive victory.

“Once we got into our way of playing we pushed on. We probably took the foot off the pedal a wee bit and Meath finished the first-half very strong. We were glad when half-time did come and we pushed on in the second-half for a convincing win.”
