JHC: Good start for Rathmolyon's seconds

Rathmolyon 1-15 Boardsmill 1-07

Rathmolyon took on local rivals Boardsmill in the opening round of the Junior Championship in Kildalkey.

Playing into a strong breeze it took Rathmolyon some time to register a score. Boardsmill took the lead and led by three points mid way through the half. With Gerard Doherty at centre back, Rathmolyon got a foot hold in the game. They got on the score board and were soon level, but Boardsmill were determined to put on a show and scored a goal to lead again. At half time the game was finely poised, Boardsmill 1-03 Rathmolyon 0-06.

With the breeze, Rathmolyon took control, Stephen Mulligan scored some fantastic points, with John Harnan and the ever green Mick Cole chipping in with some scores. Aaron Fagan scored Rathmolyon's goal to increase the lead. With ten minutes to go Rathmolyon led by nine points 1-14 to 1-05. Boardsmill never through in the towel and fought to the finish.
