After the local club action, Meath resumed their preparations for their Leinster SFC quarter-final clash against Longford with a 2-17 to 1-14 challenge win over Laois in Graiguecullen last night.
A strong first-half showing culminated in a 2-9 to 0-6 interval lead for the visitors with Cillian O'Sullivan and Cian O'Brien netting their goals.
Both teams made wholesale changes for the second-half and Laois enjoyed the better of the third quarter exchanges but the Royals produced a strong finish to run out six point winners.
O'Sullivan top scored for Andy McEntee's side with 1-4 while Donal Lenihan chipped in with 0-6.
After the final whistle, Meath captain Bryan Menton - who kicked four points - was presented with the Barney Hennessy Memorial Cup
In his acceptance speech, the Donaghmore/Ashbourne clubman wished Laois footballer Daniel O'Reilly from the host club a speedy recovery from the injuries he sustained in an assault following the O'Moore County's Division 4 final success.
