JFC: Seneschalstown lose out in injury time

April 24, 2018

Seneschalstown's Edward Meade

Seneschalstown 0-08 Dunshaughlin  0-09

The second round junior championship game against Dunshaughlin was the first of a double header at Donaghmore Ashbourne's club grounds. In a reverse of the previous weekend's result the team fell short by the minimum on this occasion.

Due to the strong wind it was a game of two halves and Seneschalstown GFC played into the wind in the first half.  A pointed free from Alan Mulvany and a point from play by James Conlon accounted for Seneschalstown's opening half tally

There was a few more chances in the first half to close the gap with Dunshaughlin but with the strong wind it restricted shooting to close range. In the first half  it required the carrying of the ball by our half backs, middle field and half forwards up the pitch to get into shooting position.

At half time the score was Seneschalstown 0-02 to Dunshaughlin  0-05.

The team got off to a quick start in the second half with a point by Sean Carey and a pointed free by Alan Mulvany. This reduced the deficit to 1 point with a few minutes gone in the second half . It was 10 minutes into the second half when the team got the levelling point by Alan Mulvany.

Edward Meade put Seneschalstown ahead in the 13th minute but Dunshaughlin scored the next three points to move two points clear.

Sean Carey and Ryan O'Dowd scored from play to bring the sides level with a couple of minutes to go in the match but Dunshaughlin scored a point in injury time to seal the win.

Seneschalstown: Keith Waters, Ronan Conneely, Kevin Casey, Fionn Gallahar Hall, Neill Darby, Cormac Duffy, Colin Gleeson, Robert Ruddy, James Conlon, Sean Carey, Ross Howard, Brendan Lynch, Adam O Mara, Edward Meade, Alan Mulvany
