Intercounty junior is a joke. Some counties can have players from senior clubs just as long as they have not played senior intercounty, other counties only have players from junior clubs. Until it is the same across the board the competition is a waste of time and money.

Ya that is the case in mayo but other counties such as roscommon you can be from a senior club just not played senior intercounty. Its more like a B team in them counties.

Is that not a bit unfair. Is it not better to let guys compete for places on the panel in trial games.

Some clubs have 1 or 2 players that could be an addition but if there club results are poor they will not get noticed or the management team might not even realise such players exist.

And use of players reputation/performances in years gone by is not a recipe for success. Current form/fitness levels have to be considered

totally agree overview, Pearse ONeill never played minor or under 21 for cork one of the top players in the country now, Some players just need a chance,
But in fairness to the junior managment they had open trials last year, and they dont have much time and so the players they already know who are fairly good get picked id say, But who knows could there be an unheard of Gooch at a lower league junior club?

Yeah,it looks like ye got lucky getting straight into the final.Galway on the other hand had to go to extra time to get over Sligo. It should be an interesting curtain raiser for the Roscommon V Galway game, let's hope the Galway fans arrive early and support the Juniors. I have no idea what the Mayo juniors are like.

Joke of a competition, should be scraped, we pulled all our players which were involved, getting to a connacht final without winning a game.

Mayo (JFC v Galway) - Paul Mannion (Mayo Gaels); Liam O'Malley (Burrishoole), Niall McCormack (Islandeady), Barry Leonard (Lahardane); Shane McDermott (Burrishoole), Ollie Feeney (Islandeady), Michael Walsh (Ardnaree); Ronan McNamara (Davitts), Padraic McManamon (Burrishoole); Alan Egan (Bonniconlon), Enda McManamon (Burrishoole), Simon Cloherty (Parke); Clifford Connolly (Hollymount/Carramore), Colin Dempsey (Swinford), Aidan McTigue (Davitts).

Any players to watch for the future out of this team? Is there even one potential senior player?
