Moylette, Pat

October 31, 2004
The late Pat Moylette It was with deep regret that the community of Islandeady and surrounding area learned of the untimely death of Pat Moylette, Derrycooraune, Islandeady on 20th September, 2004. Born in 1955, the youngest of four, he spent all his life in Islandeady where he ran the family farm with his parents, Pat and Ellie. On 7th January, 1976, he married Mag and they were blessed with three children, Colin, Pádraic and Janette. Pat spent his early years working in the Co-op in Westport where his pleasant personality made many friends. He later moved into the construction industry where he worked with his brother-in-law, Seán. The GAA was a big part of his life. He was one of the great players of the Islandeady team where he wore the No. 1 green and white jersey with great pride between the goal posts. At that time the Islandeady team was very successful, when they won both the junior and intermediate titles. During the later part of his life he still maintained close links with the Islandeady team where his sons, Colin and Pádraic continue to play. Pat enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed nothing more than meeting up with friends and family in his "local" for a quiet pint and the craic. Above all, Pat was a great family man who enjoyed having his family around him and in later years took great pride and enjoyment in watching his grandchildren, Shauna, Cian and Erin grow. As a good neighbour and friend, the affection and respect in which he was held in his native community was evident as large crowds came to bid him farewell. Pat will be remembered by all who knew and loved him for his gentle and placid nature, his patience and above all mischievous smile and sense of humour. During the Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr. Gallagher, C.C., Glenisland, and concelebrated by Fr. Denis Carney, Westport, the prayers, readings and offertory gifts reflected the many aspects of Pat's life The local Islandeady GAA Club paid their final respects to Pat by forming a guard of honour at both his removal and burial. Burial took place in Islandeady Cemetery. He is sadly missed by his loving wife Mag, children Colin and Janette, his brother Eamon, Islandeady, sisters Mary Murphy, Westport, and Ann Reape, Foxford. Grandchildren, Shauna, Cian and Erin, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Also Ray, Loretta and Maura and parents-in-law, Johnny and Jane, nephews and nieces and his many other relatives and friends to whom sincerest sympathy is extended. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
