Michael Conroy says the Dubs prefer to talk about Lee Keegan than Philly McMahon.

Conroy, who dropped off the Mayo squad in May due to injury, insists that there are double standards in the capital when it come to singling out Keegan for discussion:

"Lee Keegan is a three-time All-Star and the Dubs are talking like Diarmuid Connolly was hard done by," Conroy tells The Irish Independent. "Lee has generally gotten the better of him the last couple of years. Lee plays it very fair and very tough, as does Connolly. They are just having one of the duels of the season.

"But these duels are going on all over the pitch - people are just homing in on Diarmuid Connolly because he has played a couple of brilliant games. People are now wondering why he can't get the better of Lee Keegan.

"Diarmuid Connolly is no saint either and the Dubs are giving out because he is not playing well for them - especially against Mayo. And they are not talking too much about Philly McMahon on Aidan O'Shea are they? Mayo aren't giving out about that. You have to be ready for a bit of rough and tumble.

"Lee doesn't need to be protected by the referee. Poor Sean Cavanagh touched the ball twice against him, but he didn't say too much about it, maybe because he realised he was beaten by a better footballer.

"Lee has played in front of a lot of cameras over the years and he has only been sent off once - against Kerry, which was rescinded the following week. He plays on the edge, which is what you need if you want to win an All-Ireland."
