The Neale mourns farmer Liam Ryan

Large crowds attended the funeral of The Neale native Liam Ryan last week, after the 81-year-old farmer succumbed to ill health on Tuesday night last.

Father of Fianna Fail Councillor Damien Ryan, Liam was a farmer all his life living in Lavace, The Neale.

Described as an 'easygoing', relaxed man', Liam was heavily involved in the GAA community of The Neale, playing with the side in his former years and later serving as club
secretary. His grandchildren and love of sport were two major factors in his life along with his immense political interest.

Liam was in great health all his life up until a number of weeks ago. He is survived by his wife Marie, sons Damien, Fergal and Ciaran, brothers Michael Joe and Padraic, daughters-in-law Maria and Cathriona, grandchildren, nephews,nieces, relatives and friends.

His body reposed at Cummins Funeral Home, Ballinrobe on Thursday evening last, where large numbers paid their respects.

Funeral Mass took place at St John's Church, The Neale last Friday, with burial after at The Neale Cemetery.
