Mulhaire, Paddy

March 05, 2013
The death occurred peacefully on Monday, February 25, at his residence of Paddy (P.J) Mulhaire, St Marys Park, Crossmolina, and formerly of Moorehall, Ballyglass. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral Home on Wednesday evening with removal to his residence with burial on Thursday in Crossmolina cemetery after requiem Mass in St Tiernans Church.

Paddy was pre-deceased by his wife Angela, and is survived by his daughters Delia Queenan (Castlebar), Mary Brunette (Watford, England), Angela Cox (Ballina), Patricia Breeden (Nashville, USA), sons Michael (Ballina), Padraig (Crossmolina), Billy (Tullyegan, Ballina), sons- in-law, daughters- in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Michael Peter (Moorehall), sisters Francis O'Sullivan (Dublin), Sarahann Jennings and Philomena Hamrogue both Ballinrobe, brothers-in-law, relatives, extended family, friends and neighbours. Paddy came to Crossmolina in 1960 from Thurles, Co Tipperary, where he worked with the ESB as a linesman in the Ballina District and became a very active member of Crossmolina GAA club. Around the middle 60s when St Tiernans Park was bought and being developed, funds were needed. The big rage at that time for raising funds were the marquee dances.
The required a large and dedicated committee and Paddy was one of those. Later on when the bingo started up he was always there to help-out for over 20 years. A selector with the junior team for a number
of years including 1975 when Crossmolina won the county title. The bunting for the festival or whatever community needed a hand out Paddy was there.

Horse racing was another past-time passion of Paddy's especially Cheltenham, Galway Fairyhouse and Ballinrobe. He knew all the owners and trainers. Paddy was pictured many times in the winners enclosure with no less an owner, than the Queen mother. Paddy was also Hall of Fame recipient with the Crossmolina GAA Club and was vice president of the club at the time of his death.

It was testimony of the high esteem Paddy had in the area with the very large crowds that attended the removal and funeral on both days and the guard of honour formed by Deel Rovers Club. Deepest sympathy to his family and many friends who will miss him. May he rest in peace.
