The Late Paddy McHale
Paddy McHale, Carragorru, lost his battle for life on November 24 last following an illness which he fought to the very end. Paddy was involved with all aspects of life in the community most notably Knockmore GAA Club.
He was also a member of Knockmore/Rathduff PTAA. He was on the staff of Mayo Sligo Mart for many years where he was highly respected.
Paddy was always quiet, and unassuming in his manner and always liked to keep the peace.
He loved the outdoor life and enjoyed working on the land where he was always in touch with nature.
he took a keen interest in wildlife and spent many quiet moments studying their ways though his binoculars.
He was also an avid reader, no meal was compete without a book at his side. He had a great store of knowledge and retained everything the read.
He participated in various quizzes countrywide and won many awards for his general knowledge. But Paddy's great love was for football and his local team Knockmore.
He would never miss a match, travelling many miles to support the team. He took great delight in the clubs achievements down the years, but when they lost a match, we had to endure a weeks silence.
Paddy too had a great love for his neighbours and friends and loved visiting them regularly. He was also very generous with his time and was always willing to help out when the need arose.
The family- John, Sr Michelle and Eileen, of the late Paddy McHale, Carragorru, extend a sincere thank you to the parish community for their outpouring of support and sympathy extended to them during those past sad few weeks; to the members of Knockmore GAA Club, Knockmore Rathduff PTAA and the members and staff of Mayo Sligo Mart who turned out in such large numbers to provide a guard of honour at Paddy's funeral.
May he now enjoy his eternal reward.
