The Late Martin Heaney The death took place recently of Martin Heaney, 32 Corrovorin Drive, Ennis and late of Killeenreevagh, Hollymount. Martin belonged to a family with deep roots in Garrymore and he himself had strong associations with the local GAA club. His sister, Peggie Tierney, Roose, Hollymount, died some weeks ago. For a number of seasons before he moved south to Clare, Martin served as goalie with the Garrymore team. He had a great passion for the Garrymore club and established many life-long friendships during his years playing with them. Wherever he met folks from Garrymore, he love to reminisce about former times and took a keen interest in the club right up to the end. A kind and affable gentleman, Martin came from a family immersed in the rural culture of the region. He retained a huge interest in the Garrymore community down through the years and always enjoyed his regular visits to the home area. News of his passing was received with sadness and regret by all knew him over the years. Several people from the Crossboyne, Scardaune, Ballyglass and Garrymore areas travelled to Ennis for the funeral ceremonies. After Requiem Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Ennis, burial took place in the nearby Drumcliffe cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bridie and family, Andrew, Enda, Seán and Annette; daughter-in-law; grandchildren; brothers, Tommy and Michael; sisters, Delia, Kathleen, Sheila, Una and Teresa; nephews and nieces; relatives, neighbours and many friends.
