Mayo midfielder Aidan O’Shea believes that he has learned to block out the criticism that he has received over the years.

O’Shea gave a man of the match performance against Donegal last weekend, which helped his side set up another meeting with Dublin in Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

His performances are scrutinised way more than the majority of inter-county footballers, which is something that the Breaffy clubman has learned to deal with.

“I know there’s a lot of debate about where I should play or whether I’m playing well or not and to be honest I don’t really care,” O’Shea told the Western People.

“I’ve got the backing of the group and the backing of James and whatever role I’ve been given to do, I’ve always tried to do it to the best of my ability.

“I’m too long in the tooth now to worry about that stuff. Look, things went well last Saturday and we just have to dust ourselves down and get ready for next weekend.”
