Mayo midfielder Matthew Ruane is expected to be fit to face New York, despite missing his club’s SFC win at the weekend.

Ruane was an absentee due to suspected appendicitis as Breaffy beat Davitts on Saturday, but The Irish Daily Star reports that the player will not need surgery and will be available to tog out against the Exiles on May 5th.

The All-Ireland MFC and U21 winner is expected to make his senior championship debut in Gaelic Park. His clubmate Seamus O’Shea and Ballyhaunis’ Keith Higgins should also be available to James Horan for the championship opener, if required, despite both missing last weekend’s club games with ankle injuries.
