Mayo manager James Horan was impressed by some of the newcomers on show against Galway in last weekend’s FBD League semi-final.

The Tribesmen won out after a penalty shoot out as Mayo now turn their attention to the start of the National Football League.

Horan gave starts to some newcomers and the Mayo manager told the Western People that he was impressed by their displays.

“We got something from the game,” said Horan. “I thought we managed a lot of it fairly well. It was Conor Diskin’s first senior start for Mayo, he showed well and got two points.

“Fionn McDonagh, James McCormack, a lot of the new guys came through it and got a bit more experience in a close game against Galway so from that point of view, it was good.”
