As expected, Ballintubber proved too strong for Aughawillan in today’s Connacht Club SFC semi-final at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.

The Mayo champions enjoyed an emphatic 3-11 to 1-8 win over their hosts thanks to second-half goals from substitute Jamsie Finnerty (2) and Alan Plunkett.

The first-half finished with Kevin Johnson’s side ahead by 0-8 to 0-5 but they turned on the style in the second-half.

Finnerty was introduced as a 43rd minute substitute and made an immediate impact when netting his team’s opening goal.

He added a second in the 51st minute and Plunkett got in on the goal scoring act shortly after.

Ciaran Gilheany netted a late consolation three pointer for the home side but it’s Ballintubber who have a provincial final clash with Corofin to look forward to.
