James Horan during his stint as Mayo senior football boss

James Horan will leave no stone unturned in his bid to end Mayo’s long wait for a Sam Maguire Cup success.

Horan’s return to the Mayo hot-seat was confirmed last Thursday evening and he intends to cast his net far and wide in the coming weeks to freshen up the existing squad.

“There are going to be new players,” he confirmed in an interview with MayoGAATV.com.

“Thanks to the great work done by Mike Solan over the last few years there are younger players and some may make it this year and some over the next few years.”

The four-time Connacht winning manager has been handed a four-year term and he added: “I think for stability and the development pathways that have happened through the coaching and the under 20s and now the seniors, I think stability was needed and a period of time that is optimum for a management team to bring those players through.”
