Mayo's Sinéad Cafferky is the Croke Park Hotel LGFA Player of the Month award winner for April.

The individual accolade for 25-year-old Cafferky is just reward for a series of impressive performances during the Lidl National League Division 1 campaign.

Cafferky, from the Kilmovee Shamrocks club, scored a total of 5-9 over the course of Mayo's nine matches but the exciting forward caught the eye with a brilliant performance in the semi-final victory over Cork in April.

Cafferky scored the crucial second half goal that helped to earn Mayo a 1-20 to 3-12 victory, and she also pulled off a superb goal-line clearance at the other end to deny Áine O'Sullivan a certain goal.

Cafferky returned to the Mayo squad this year following a number of years away from the inter-county scene and her consistent form has been publicly hailed by team manager Peter Leahy.

Mayo are now preparing for the TG4 Connacht senior final against old rivals Galway on Sunday, June 24.

Mayo will be looking to wrestle the provincial title back from the Tribeswomen when the counties lock horns in an eagerly-anticipated decider.

Cafferky and Mayo will also hope that the county team can embark on another successful championship run, following last year's march to Croke Park and a TG4 All-Ireland senior final appearance against Dublin.

Sinéad was presented with her award by Sean Reid, Deputy General Manager, The Croke Park Hotel.
