A bad day for Mayo was compounded by a serious knee injury sustained by Tom Parsons.

The Charlestown Sarsfields midfielder suffered a dislocated knee following an accidental collision with Eoghan Kerin the second half of Mayo's Connacht SFC quarter-final defeat to Galway, and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Mayo are also set to be without Diarmuid O'Connor for the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers after he received a straight red card for a high elbow on Galway's Paul Conroy late in the first half of the dull Elvery's MacHale Park encounter.
