Next month's eagerly-awaited Connacht SFC quarter-final between Mayo and Galway is expected to test Elvery's MacHale Park's capacity.

Galway's surprise run to the Allianz Football League final last weekend has swelled interest in the tie, which is heading for a 28,000 sellout. The 2017 and 2016 championship meetings of the old rivals drews crowds of 22,046 and 21,784 respectively, but those figures will be surpassed this year based on ticket demand.

"There's always big interest in Mayo against Galway, but it's even bigger than usual this year. People are expecting it to be a great contest, especially after Galway doing so well in the league and running Dublin close," Connacht Council secretary John Prenty told the Irish Independent.
