Great football career - he has won a nice haul of medals but a real measure of the man is the quality of accolades he is receiving. None of the best enjoyed playing on him and all the best enjoyed playing with him. Thanks Paddy. You won't be replaced and you won't be forgotten.

We should probably retire the #8 jersey.

Not sure about that first managerial role though.... but wouldn't be surprised if we saw Rovers in Croke Park on Paddy's Day in a few years.

You have to respect a man that done it all in Louth football for giving a small club a lift.

It's a nonsense , why on earth would Paddy take over a club team especially when he's still intending to play many years of senior club football with the Pats. League club matches in all divisions are on the same days more often than not. as class as Paddy is he can't be in two places at once !
I'm sure he'd help out with a training session now and then if approached but management ??
Also no club can 'announce' signings for next year, transfers (which I doubt are happening ) must be ratified. Donaghy must be near 40 now and O Boyle would get his place on any club side in Drogheda , why on earth would he sign for Annaghminnon!
It's a fantastic windup , whoever got it up on HS should be proud because they've got a few here hook line and sinker !!

What a player. Paddy gave everything for Louth from the first O'Byrne cup game to the last qualifier game. He was always the first name on the team sheet and would walk onto any team yet he never took a winter off or left for the sun in June. For 12 years he gave us everything he had and left us with some great memories. In the leinster semi in 2010 we were minutes away from our first final in 50 years and we started to lose concentration, we had the work done but it looked like Westmeath might steal it, then Paddy got on the ball and calmed everyone down, without his leadership in those final minutes I don't think we would have got to the final. The match winning block at the end of the 2010 leinster final was one that would be hanging on the walls of homes throughout Louth if it hadn't been for one bad refereeing decision. He gave so many exceptional performances like against Tyrone in 2006 and Kildare in 2011 not to mention last year with a bandaged head and we had some great league wins in 2006 and 2011 and the qualifier run in 2007 . Thanks for your services Paddy, Louth gaels are forever in your debt.

Fantastic player who gave everything to the Louth cause for a dozen years. One of the best and most consistent midfielders around. Can safely say he would be the one and only Louth who would walk onto the Dublin team at present. He carried Louth for a long time and has been a truly great servant to the county. The least he deserved was a Leinster title. I wish him well in his retirement and hopefully he will do well in management also.

players of the last 20 years . best wishes to paddy in his his retirement and he fully deserves all the praise he is getting

He will be back lads, it is a break the man needs. Too much football with Pats, Louth, DCU and Leinster

Massive loss hard to see who can come in and play in the middle for us now. Any Suggestions?

@Celci

You could try Liam Shelvin. Sometimes he plays midfield for his club.

Jim McEaneany, Declan Byrne, Peach Califf, Stewart from the Gaels, but they need to step it up bigtime to fill PK's boots

I can see him coming back in a while. After years of carrying the team and being targeted by every team we play he's probably just shattered.
Its time for others to put their shoulder to the wheel.
White hasn't played well since 2010, Donnelly hasn't fulfilled his promise, Califf has been in and out of the panel as has Jim Mc and Dec Byrne.
Can these lads lift it? We will have to see
If Kelly takes over I can see Califf being an important player.
If anyone else is leaving I hope they do it early and not when the season is half way through, its disrespectful to the management and the panel.

One year ago today the great Paddy Keenan announced his Louth retirement. That year just flew.

Thank God it flue Ollie. The worst year in the history of the Louth team. There were some long rotten days in Sligo,Mullingag,Thurles etc. Little did we realise when Paddy announced his decision what we were in for. Are we in for a further year ofit without Paddy.

Of course Paddy owes us nothing. He gave 12 marvellous years to Louth. Many thanks.Master.

In the last year Paddy did the championship/COD cup double.with Pats and is Captain this year where they are undefeated in 14 games so far in both competitions. The legend lives on

Kikfada they are going great. They will be back next year in the Junior Championship. The future is bright, the future is red and white around Stonetown.
