Minor Leagues 2019

(Oldest Posts First)

Seen this morning that Minor league divisions are sorted and waiting ratification from senior board. First round games scheduled for Sunday 31.03.2019 . I have said it before Sunday is a soccer day and why we would try to encroach on this day for young lads beggars belief. Why can we not stick to a Monday night as always this is putting young lads under pressure to potentially choose a code due to fixtures clashing. I have no affiliation to any soccer club but I think if Soccer moved games to a Monday night us Gaels would not be happy Co board are completely out of touch with the young players and clubs . Delighted to see Kevin's still got an amalgamation irons in the fire and all that.

We are doing our young players a massive disservice how are these people continually voted in.

Agree 100%. We do not need to have minor games on a Sunday. Plenty of Monday nights to run 7 games in the league

It was shocking the way Dreadnots and st Kevins were treated by so called GAA people, to think under age players from these clubs were singled out by grown men (officers and clubs) at the county board meetings is just not right. This is the only amalgamation that was spoken about and voted on at the minor board and the senior board. This is bordering on a child welfare issue. I believe this was personal instead of football matters and by all accounts a letter has being sent to Croke Park on this treatment

Embarrassing

That's the way it's going and yet again nothing is being done to stop it. At this moment in time in Dundalk, soccer is a more attractive product than GAA and more and more kids will walk away from the GAA.

When are the first round of games to be played and who's playing who?

Something was done, Louth GAA changed the fixtures from a Monday night to Sundays to clash with the soccer fixtures.

No other explanation!

A very interesting start to the minor league last week. Roche (only promoted to div1) saw off last years beaten finalists mochs/brides fairly convincingly, Cooley beat Kilkerly in what was a good game and defending minor championship scarpped past fechins from what I heard.
Who do you fancy for the championship this year?

I'd say any of them could win it on a given day seems to be wide open

Don't be surprised if the minor champions come from a team or an amalgamated set up outside of Div 1 there are some charalotons out there with there grading.

Riches are a decent side and could be the ones to watch out for

From what I hear there are 5 or 6 of the Roche minors on their first team squad and all of them have played some minutes in their first two games. This should definitely stand to them but whether they have a full squad to win the championship only time will tell. Marys are surely favourites again.
