The Start Of The New Era

(Oldest Posts First)

This Sunday is the start of a new era as Wayne Kierans takes charge of Louth for the first time ever. It is a big day for the Plunkett's who are officially opening up their new clubrooms extension. With Meath being the opposition there should be a great crowd at this match. It all kicks off at twelve noon as GAA President John Horan cuts the ribbon to officially open up the new facility. The match itself throws in at 2.00 pm. The Sam Maguire trophy will be on show as well on the day. Conor Early will be representing the Plunkett's as he will be part of the Louth squad that day. It is also fitting that the Plunkett's only Senior Championship was won in the wonderful wee year of 1957 and they had two players on that famous Louth team- Peader Smith and Jackie Reynolds. What a year to be a Plunkett's supporter.

Looking forward to this match and to see what Wayne & the team have to offer. Any idea of whos in the panel? Any new faces?

No he was a Plunkett's man back in 57. He is grandfather to Pepi Smith the Dreads forward.

Thanks Ollie. I thought it was a little later. Did they play in junior or second division championship in glorious '57 or were they only formed that year and started competing in '58 the year of the Roche.

I am not too sure 19616609. Roche won Junior 1957 while the Blues won Junior in 1958. That's the last time that both clubs won the Junior Championship.
