Roche Emmets U13's 12th July 2017

St Patricks 2-06 Roche Emmets 4-05

Following on from last Saturday's defeat to Oliver Plunketts in the first match of the U13 league, we travelled to Lordship last night to take on the Pats. As expected due to holidays we were tight for numbers, and ended up with 12 players present. Since the Pats had 18 we played 12 aside meaning we had no subs.

Having played them several weeks ago in a challenge we knew we would have a close game with them, and that is exactly how it turned out. Roche scored first and this seemed to settle us into our game. We battled well at midfield, contesting everything to ensure we took the maximum possession from kick outs. Our keeper made the most of the newly pumped balls, regularly sending the kick outs over the half forwards to set up new attacks.

In defense we were very alert to attacking threats, and particularly our full backs tackled well and blocked down several goal bound kicks. In attack we were very lively, with constant movement creating problems for the Pats defense. We were also supported in attack by willing half backs and midfielders who joined the attack on many occasions taking up good positions to receive passes in the scoring area.

We were two points up at half time and maintained that momentum till the end, even though with no subs we were tiring, winning by 5 points on a score line of Pats 2-6 Roche 4-5.

Congratulations to all on a hard fought victory.
