Meeting: There was a players meeting with the new manager Paddy Bates last Friday night and 23 players attended. The lads had their first training session on Sunday morning and will continue on Tuesday and Friday night at 8.00pm this week. Selectors for the coming year for the division two and the intermediate championship team will be Alan Brennan and Derek Walsh; we wish them every success for the year ahead.

 

Membership: Club membership is now due, the cost for the year is adult €40 and junior & OAP €20, contact David Neasy 087-7552822 or Anthony Agnew 087-9272863.

 

Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms this Wednesday 18th January at 8.00pm, jackpot €1,700 in 48 numbers.

 

Social Dancing: There will be social dancing on Saturday 21st January in our clubrooms from 9.00pm, Music by Tommy Carroll, admission €10 and refreshments will be served.

Blood: There will be a blood donor clinic Scoil Ui Mhuiri, Dunleer on Mon 23rd Jan from 5:30 - 9.00pm. A partnership between the IBTS and the GAA encourage GAA members and supporters to give blood at local GAA club level. It's in your blood, supported by the GAA.

 

Minor: The groups and fixtures for the Leinster Minor Football League which begins on 11th February have been released and are as follows. Group 1: Offaly, Longford and Clare. Group 2: Wexford, Laois and Cork. Group 3: Carlow, Wicklow, Dublin and Tipperary. Group 4: Westmeath, Meath, Louth and Kildare. In round 1 on Saturday 11th February Louth will be at home to Kildare at 2.30pm. In round 2 on Saturday 18th the February Louth are away to Westmeath at 2.30pm. In round 3 on Saturday 25th February Louth will be at home to Meath at 2.30pm. Semi-finals on Saturday 11th March Group 1winner versus group 2 winner, group 3 winners versus group 4 winner. Final on Saturday 18th March.

 

Course: Tim Gabbett who is one of the world's leading Sports Scientists will host a Workshop in the Canal Court Newry on Friday 27th January from 7pm to 9pm.  Dr Tim Gabbett has 20 years' experience working as an applied sport scientist with athletes and coaches from a wide range of sports. This Workshop will be of interest to Coaches who are keen to learn from a world leading specialist and who would like to prepare their players/athletes better so they are fitter and less likely to sustain injury. Tim will outline this in the Workshop by how best to monitor training load. Any of our coaches interested in this course should contact the club as soon as possible.
