Naomh Fionnbarra's William Woods.

Naomh Fionnbarra suffered an 8 point defeat at the hands of Hunterstown Rovers at a very wet John Markey Park on Saturday evening.

Heavy downpours befoire the start of the game made underfoot conditions treachourous throughout.  Rovers started brighest with a goal by Ryan Burns after a long ball straight from the throw in.  2 frees from William Woods kept the Barrs in touch but 2 points by Burns and a point from Glen Matthews kept the Hunterstown men to the fore.  A fine point by Liam Shevlin and another 2 Woods frees reduced the arrears to 1.  A second Burns goal by Burns put the Hunetrstown men in a commanding position as self inflicted mistakes by the Finbarrs proved costly.  A well worked point finished by Darren McConnon was the Togher men's sole reply to 3 further points from the Hunterstown men.  Half time score:  Naomh Fionnbarra 0-6(6) Hunterstown Rovers 2-6(12).

Try as they might in the second half the Togher men could not reduce the arrears to less than 4 points at the Hunterstown men kept them at arms length.  William Woods was the scorer in chief for the Barrs with 5 points, 2 well struck points from play and 3 frees, 1 of which was from 50m.  Liam Shevlin and Thomas McCreesh also chipped in with points from play.  Rovers put some more gloss on the scoreline with a 3rd goal in the last few minutes of the game.  Final score:  Naomh Fionnbarra 0-13(13) Hunterstown Rovers 3-12(21)
