Two more ladies football stars are heading to the AFLW after signing international rookie deals with the Fremantle Dockers for the 2020 season.

Leitrim's Aine Tighe and Kate Flood from Louth have joined the growing number of Irish sportswomen to try their hand at Aussie Rules. with 10 Irish now committed to AFL clubs.

The towering Tighe was one of Leitrim's leading lights before suffering a cruciate ligament injury two years ago, while Flood is a key forward for Louth. Tighe is from Kiltubrid, while Flood hails from the St Patrick's club in Lordship.

Tighe told the Fermantle website: "I knew a couple of the Irish girls from college so I’ve been watching them and seeing how they’ve got on. It’s sparked a bit of interest (in playing AFLW) and I got a couple of messages to explore it and I looked into it in more detail, so (considering going to Australia) has been for the last year or so."
