Des Halpenny got the green light to serve a fifth and final year as Louth chairman at last night’s annual convention which was held in Darver.

The John Mitchel’s clubman shaded a close contest with Bob Doheny by 67 votes to 53 while secretary Fra Kieran of Clan na Gael was elected unopposed for a fifth term.

Naomh Mairtin’s Aidan Berrill remains on as treasurer for a 10th year-in-a-row.
