Daniel Roche Memorial Tournament

An eventful year for our U14s concluded today with an action packed day in Jimmy Pentony Park. From a mixed league campaign l, to much fun and frolics at Feile, a resounding Championship win in August was followed today with our lads winning the inaugural Daniel Roche Memorial tournament.

 

Any signs of rustiness were quickly shaken off as they topped their group containing St Marys Donore, St Nicholas and Wolfe Tones. A lengthy wait before their semi final against Slane made for an understandably slow start. Spending much of the period on the back foot they showed true grit to trail by a single score going into the interval, 0-2 to 1-2. But once the engine warms up they crank up the gears and in full flow they’re a joy to watch, turning on the second half style to win 4-4 to 1-3.

 

With the adrenaline still pumping they left Oliver Plunketts in a tailspin running out 2-7 to 0-4 winners in the first final of this new annual tournament held by St Nicholas in memory of Daniel.

 

Many thanks to St Nicholas GFC for inviting us along for a most enjoyable day and thank you to the hardy souls who braved the cold to support the lads on the sidelines. Beir bua ages beannacht and we’ll see you all for more of the same in 2019.

 

Christmas Draw

Tickets for our annual Christmas draw are now available from the clubhouse bar. Prices are €2 for one line, or €5 for three lines, with a top prize of €500 up for grabs. The draw will take place on Saturday, 22nd December.
