May 14, 2018

Ben Rogan - O Raghallaighs

Hunterstown encountered little difficulty in picking up their fifth straight win as they came away from Tullyallen with a 3-13 to 0-3 success.

The victory was as good as assured by the end of the first half as two goals from Paul Carrie and a third from Brendan Lennon had the visitors 3-7 to 0-1 in front. James Butler kicked the only score for the Emmets.

With the result never in doubt, the second half was a rather tame affair as Hunterstown added just six further points to their tally.

O Raghallaighs ensured they remain joint top of the table when they scored a 4-12 to 2-6 win over the Oliver Plunketts in Mell.

Daniel Morgan led the scoring for the winners as he bagged a personal tally of 3-2, with Ben Rogan also finding the net. The winners were leading by 2-6 to 1-3 at half time.

Kilkerley Emmets remain just two points off the pace in Division 2 after recording a hard-fought 2-14 to 1-12 win over St Mochtas in Louth Village.

Shane Lennon opened the scoring with a goal for the visitors but the Mochtas recovered with points from Eamonn O'Neill before a goal from Jamie Farrell had the hosts leading by 1-6 to 1-4 at half time.

There was little between the teams throughout the second half but in the end a late goal from Sean Hand gave Kilkerley the edge and they held out for an important win.

Nh Fionnbarra also remain in contention at the top of the table after a strong finish saw them defeat Glyde Rangers by 2-10 to 1-8 at Tallanstown.

Jack Butterly struck an early goal for the visitors but points from Trevor O'Brien and Brian Duffy had Glyde back on terms before a Conor Lenehan point put the Barrs in at the break leading by 1-4 to 0-6.

Paul Noone hit the net to put the hosts 1-8 to 1-7 in front with 15 minutes to play. However, that was to prove to be their last score as the Barrs ran out winners thanks to a second goal from Butterly.

St Josephs picked up two valuable points at Cluskey Park on Friday when they scored a 3-10 to 0-11 win over St Fechins.

In a very even first half the teams shared the opening ten points but the Joes took a 1-5 to 0-5 lead into the break thanks to a late goal from Oisin McGuinness. The same player added a second goal ten minutes after the restart and although the Fechins fought back, the Joes clinched victory with a late Jack Mulligan goal.
