Mulleady, Fergal

The Late Fergal Mulleady There remains a deep sense of shock and loss at the news of the untimely death of Drumlish native Fergal Mulleady, who died suddenly on February 11. A hugely popular member of the Drumlish, Ballinamuck and Newtownforbes and Drumlish and brother of local Fianna Fail councillor Martin Mulleady. Described by those who knew him as a gentle, caring person, he was ery good natured and always willing to help out when called upon. As a businessman he excelled. Fergal established his own construction company Mulleady Properties, which just completed a new development just outside the village of Drumlish. In sports, his first love was GAA. A member of the senior panel as the Fr Manning Gaels side made their championship winning breakthrough in the mid 1990s, he continued his interest in the sport throughout, showing unerring commitment when called upon. Last year he was selector for club's junior side. Whilst holidaying down in Kerry last summer, he returned to the county for a mid-week match that the junior team were playing against Clonguish. Fergal also supported the local club financially, and was a regular sponsor of teams and events. Fergal is survived by his mother Mary, brothers Martin and Michael, sisters Sandra (Donohoe), Diane (Tighe) and Michelle (Duggan), brothers-in-law Brian, Jim and Derek, sister-in-law Patricia, girl friend Lisa, nephews Ciarán, Jack and Shane, nieces Aisling, Sinéad, Ella and Clodagh. His remains were removed to St. Mary's Church Drumlish and followed by burial afterwards to the new cemetery. The huge crowds in attendance at both the removal and funeral bore testament to the high esteem in which Fergal and his family are held throughout the county. The management and staff of the Longford Leader newspaper wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Fergal Mulleady. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dilis.
