Farrelly, Sean

September 30, 2007
There was widespread shock in the local community when news of the sudden and unexpected death of Sean Farrelly, Cooleeny emerged. Married to Ann, Sean was the father of six young children to whom he was totally devoted to. His remains were removed to St Mel's Church on Sunday last and he was laid to rest in Ballymacormack cemetery following requiem Mass. In recent years Sean contented himself with farming the land and in recent months he and his brother had become the forerunners in a major new development initiative for the Shroid area. Sean Farrelly and his brothers played football with Shroid Slashers from the 1970's and into the early 1980's and the family provided the club with the land for the provision of a GAA pitch until the club acquired its own in 1979. Sean will be sadly missed by his wife Ann, children, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Courtesy of the Longford Leader. 19 September, 2007.
