The late Annie Glennon
Hundreds and hundreds of people attended the removal and funeral mass of the late Annie Glennon from St Mary's Terrace who passed away.
The overflowing congregations at both ceremonies testified to the high esteem in which the late Ms Glennon was held within the Longford community and beyond.
Ms Glennon who passed away at the age of 95, will be fondly remembered as a mother who was rightly proud of her seven devoted children as well as her 23 grand-children and nine great-grand-children.
A native of Lisnacusha in Lanesboro, Ms Glennon was predeceased by her husband Liam who died eleven years ago.
A former principal of St Michael's NS and a great supporter of traditional music, Liam Glennon and his late wife were stalwarts of the local community, a fact which was reflected in the large crowds that attended both her removal and funeral. Liam and Annie Glennon lived in their home at St. Mary's Terrace where they raised their family including the principal of St Mel's College and local county councillor Denis; well-known local funeral director Eamon; daughter Mary Greene, wife of GAA official and local businessman John Greene; daughters Kathleen Gallagher and Anne Glennon as well as sons Liam Og and James. Ms Glennon is also survived by her three sisters Bridie, Phyl and Hannah and three brothers, Pat, Eddie and Joe as well as her extended family and friends.
Her remains were brought o St. mel's Cathedral and following funeral mass, burial took place at Ballycormack cemetery.
